Day 14 - Opatija

We left Rab this morning for our last day on the boat, this time cruising through to the island of Krk. The sun was back out and we had time for another swim stop so the captain anchored in a bay straight after breakfast for us to enjoy another dip in the ocean. A bit cooler today but still well worth jumping in.

We popped a bottle of bubbles on the boat, as we got photos of a big rock on Tash's finger - Taylor had popped the question while they were on Lake Como!

After docking at Krk, we filed onto a coach to drive us for about an hour through to the town of Opatija on the mainland to meet our tour guide - although Opatija is a seaside town, a large cruise ship was also visiting and so the marine berths there had been reserved for them alone. Oh well, docking in Krk and taking the bus wasn’t such a hardship. I might have even had a wee nap.

The guided walking tour through the town finished at a well known chocolate shop where we were given plenty of samples to take with us and then we were left to do a bit of exploring. After some gelato, a bit of window shopping, and a drink at one of the local beach bars, it was time for us to meet up at the Yacht Club restaurant for a final dinner with all of the other cruise guests. Four courses no less! I think we’re all going to need the services of a tailor after this cruise.

Back onto the bus for returning to the ship at Krk to do some final packing. It feels a little odd that the cruise is finishing - we’ve gotten used to a full-service boating way of life in a very short space of time. Maybe we could stow away somewhere on board to make it last a little longer.
