Day 25 - Next stop, Capri
Today was another day of travel so it's a relatively short post - we said goodbye to Puglia and literally drove across the country to Naples. The countryside changed drastically as we drove, from flat and dry to lush valleys and hills. In the centre was about a 20 minute period where there were wind turbines as far as the eye could see, hundreds and hundreds of them. Italy has no rivers, and it is tricky to retrofit solar power into the ancient towns, so wind is their main energy source.
After arriving at Naples, we took the car back to the airport, stored some bags in a luggage holding facility, and jumped into a cab to get to the ferry to Capri. This is where we got to experience real Italian driving - it was total and utter chaos. There were cars, scooters, buses, and vans heading in every possible direction, nobody seemed to have a lane, and everyone's horn is connected directly to the brake pedal. It was a wild ride but absolutely brilliant! We got to the ferry unscathed and onto the Capri ferry relatively easily. Then into one of the amazing looking Capri open-top cabs, checking in and then sitting by the pool to recover from a long travel day.
The day finished with us trying one of the restaurants that had been recommended by our host - without a doubt, the best ravioli I've ever had. Loved it! Another early night to be up early in the morning for a boat tour. Looking forward to it!
