Day 28 - Off to Portofino
It was our last travelling day today before our homeward journey, with an early start to get the 8am ferry back to Naples. For the first time ever our booked transfer didnt arrive so it was a hasty taxi search to get to the airport. Thankfully, we had plenty of time so no real issue except for the hassle and we safely collected our stored luggage at the airport before flying to Rome to connect to our flight to Genoa and then transfer to our final stop - Portofino. It was a long day, but a magical place to arrive to. As has been the case for the last week, we have been moving ahead of storms without actually being caught in one. It was certainly stormy waters (Barb disappointed again at no chance for a sea swim) but actually still a nice temperature for us, just windy with a few spits of rain. Our apartment is very quirky and has 85 steep steps (or steeps as we now refer to them) up to the door. Friends of our host happened to pass by as we were about ascend and offered to take our cases up for us - a EUR20 tip very well spent! Going down is going to still be quite the mission though. In the evening it was a real treat to eat excellent Italian food right beside the water after all the crowds had left, and we were even treated to a rainbow for a little extra magic.
